2012 Ford NHL - Day One Action
Day One of the 2012 Ford NHL delivered mixed results for the Bayleys Midlands teams. First on the turf were Bayleys Midlands Men who took on Capital.
Ahead 3-2 at halftime, Midlands didn't appear to be missing Australian Olympic bronze medallist Tim Deavin, who had returned to Tasmania for 24 hours for an Olympic Ceremony. But they lost the lead in the 2nd half and despite taking their goalie off with 5 minutes to go, lost the match 5-3.
Goal scorers for the Men were Lincoln Churchill (2) and Hoete Mitai-Ngatai.
In the Women's match, despite having goal scoring opportunities early in the first half, the teams went into the break 0-0.
The second half was a different story. The Bayleys Midlands Women overpowered Capital with a display of fast and skillful hockey and took out the match 4-0.
Goal scoreres for the Women were Cat Finlayson, Shannon Cochrane, Clarissa Eshuis and Kim Tanner.
