2011 World Champs, Lake Bled, Slovenia
It is the morning before the night before. I woke early and decided to fill the hour or so before breakfast with an update. Yesterday things all started to become a little more real with the release of the draw.
Heat Four : New Zealand, Denmark, Kazakhstan, Lithuania.
Top two to progress to the semi final.
Lets do it! The draw is always an exciting milestone, and after weeks of counting down, I lie wide-awake knowing that I only have to get through two pre race rows before I line up again. Bliss!
Lake Bled, Slovenia. Location for the 2011 World Championships and more importantly the Olympic Qualification Regatta. I remember very clearly writing an update from here last year and described it as being the closest thing to rowing in Disneyland. With castles and churches dotted on the landscape surrounded by alps. Lets hope that Bled will be the place for this little girls fairy tale.
As an added twist to our preparation, Richards training group have been travelling 20mins to a secret hideaway. Lake Bohinj. With no one else training out there other than our four boats it is a perfect escape from contesting for space with the hundreds of boats on the course at the moment. Instead all we have to contest is the azure blue waters and occasional or rather frequent nudist. Who wouldnt want to be nude when in such stunning surrounds right? Im yet to take off my row suit
.
The rest of the team seem to be in very high spirits and an excitement about racing starting is obvious. Mum, Dad, Brother and friends arrive today, which I am more than happy about. Now all thats left to do is get the show on the road!
I feel like Cinderella waiting for the clock to strike midnight!
. Will the shoe fit?
