I would like to thank Nigel, Stuart, Gemma, Dax and Owen for their willingness to be involved and putting their name forward. We have the skill mix to be a great BOT and I look forward to working with each Trustee.
Special thanks goes to Andrew Currie and Gerard Culling. Andrew has been on the BOT for the past 3 years and been involved in many areas but lately Property. Gerard has come on recently and has contributed lots with his ideas and enthusiasm for the school.

I have included their bios so parents can get a sense of the new trustees and the skills they bring.
Thanks,
Roger

After emigrating to NZ from South Africa in June 2007 we started our journey in Auckland and fell in love with this beautiful country and its people. In Auckland I worked as a Training and Development Manager for a franchise Retail Company. After a few years I got an opportunity to relocate to Christchurch and take up a Regional Operational Managers role in the same Retail Company. We have been living in Pegasus since our arrival in January and absolutely love it.
I have been married to my wife Rene for 14 years, we have 3 kids Hein 6, Neve she's 4 and the baby of the family Beau who is 6 months old. We love the school and teachers and having long term plans here in Pegasus we wanted to find a way to get involved with the school and community.
I am very excited and honoured to play a part in this great school, so many great and exciting things that lay on the horizon. I hope with some experience in the business sector I can bring something to the table.

Kia ora,
I am honoured to be nominated for Waikuku School’s Board of Trustees. I believe I will be a valued member of the board for a number of reasons. First and foremost I am a devoted mother to my beautiful two boys, Kaiza and Jahmal, who have been happy and vibrant throughout their years at Waikuku School. I have brought up my children in the supportive and friendly community of Waikuku Beach, a place where I have a strong connection with based upon my Ngäi Tahu heritage. As a proud Ngäi Tahu woman I have a deep love for Maori culture and its importance to learning.
As a parent of children who attend Waikuku School I have been heavily involved myself in all that school life has to offer. I have spent the last four years spending as much time at school as I can, through running Fun Day Friday activities, helping out in  the classroom, playing sport with children at lunchtime and proudly attending whanau hui and assembly. All of these experiences have given me an integral insight into the ‘feeling’ of our school, as well as forming strong relationships with tamariki and staff of Waikuku School.
I am currently employed at Belfast School as a passionate Year 7/8 teacher. I am very open minded and although I believe that structure is critical in the classroom setting, careful and considered flexibility can assist to create an exciting and positive learning environment. I believe the knowledge and passion I posses within my career would be beneficial as a member of the Board of Trustees of Waikuku School. Due to my work commitments I am no longer able to involve myself during school hours at Waikuku School and feel that by being a member of the board, I would proudly be able to put my teaching, parenting and cultural knowledge to good use.
Lastly I would like to acknowledge the amazing energy my dear friend Jacky Sinclair-Phillips gave to Waikuku School and feel privileged to continue with her legacy – this being that “it’s all about the kids”.

Owen Duffy
I have two children who currently attend Waikuku School and a third who is at Rangiora High. I am standing for the Waikuku School Board of Trustees, as I want to make a difference for the children of our community who are currently attending the School and those who are yet to come. I am passionate about our children having the opportunity to learn and succeed in a safe environment. That they have access to and are familiar with modern technologies, can partake in a full range of recreational and competitive activities, sporting and otherwise.
I work as a consultant in the IT industry and have done for the past 12 years. I have advised and assisted businesses (from large multinational to owner operated), on their use of current technologies and the uptake and deployment of new technologies, including change and project management.
Over the past several years I have been involved with a wide range of activities from helping to coach rugby and cricket teams. Last year my wife Toni and I managed the Waikuku Warriors touch team (Years 7-8 from Waikuku School) and the Woodend under 14 Tennis team. I am also heavily involved with the Waikuku Beach Surf Living Club where I am currently a committee member.
With the move of Waikuku School to Pegasus town, the School and Board of Trustees has many challenges lying ahead of it. I am up for that challenge.

My involvement in the leadership group at Waikuku School over the last three years has been a time of real learning and reward. The team; BOT, PTA and Staff have been outstanding and I have seen many positive changes take place as we collectively determined our vision for our kids to have a great educational experience at this wonderful little school.
On a day to day practical level there is national standards to bring usefully into the student achievement reporting, a new school to design which will serve inquiry learning for the next 50 years, the management of the transition to Pegasus, staff to support and develop, and a growing roll of students we need to ensure get the best education and support we can provide. My intention is for our kids to have the best opportunity to find their gifts and talents to help them reach their fullest potential.
We are into another round of positive change at Pegasus, and working with the staff, our community and our kids to define an inspirational vision that everyone understands and can work towards is a current challenge. We want to get the foundations in place to build a world class educational facility.
I am committed to supporting Roger and the team as they further develop academic achievement and respectful behaviour at our school. And I am committed to establishing a school that integrates the beach culture with the multi-cultural expectations of our new families, and maximizes the opportunity to help our young talent find the courage.
