Milestone 1 Report to BOT   27th April   2010    
                 

GOAL 1 – Greendale School develops, reviews and refines ICT strategic plan.    
Success Indicators: Schools have an ICT strategic plan that stems from and is aligned to goals for student learning and to the charter and annual plans)

• The 2010 Greendale School Charter has strong links to on-going ICT PD
• ICT student targets included for 2010
• ICT leadership goals included in principal appraisal process
• ICT goals included in teacher appraisal process


GOAL 2 - School leaders further develop their capability to lead and manage e-learning integration
Success Indicators:  Distributive leadership is evident in all schools and leaders are using effective change management strategies when working with adults).

• ICT audit completed
• Teachers are continuing to engage in e-learning
• School has appointed an e-Learning Leader
• Board of Trustees engaged in the development of Strategic vision for ICT in school
• Teachers' ICT skills and use of  ICT learning determined by rubric
• Staff member attends Visible Learning workshop.
• Principal attends Learning at School Conference
• Classroom timetables adjusted to enable better integration of ICT learning across areas.
• All teaching staff attend e-time digital literacy practicum..

• Further develop and sustain professional learning communities within, between and beyond cluster schools by inquiring into, sharing and applying professional knowledge and practices connected with e-learning.

• More sharing of information and collaboration and ideas both face-to-face and online.
• Students and teachers working with each other both face-to-face and online.
• Greater use of Web 2.0 tools to collaborate. Teachers’ horizons are constantly expanding.
• Teachers have a greater appreciation of the opportunities and challenges of teachers in other sectors

• All teaching staff participated in e-Time PD.  Learning from these practicums has been integrated into classroom programmes.

Greendale:  Programme Implementation

Principals
• PLG term 1.  Principals met to finalise ICT PD strategic Plan and to set key indicators and dates to be achieved.

Lead Teacher
• Shared Action research Model and developed individual school cluster Wiki Sites. Lead teacher was able to model action research with Staff and give a brief overview of school wiki space.

Learning at School
.
• Great to spend time with other principals both at a local and national level.
• Really good to receive up to date quality information about current initiatives, trends, happenings
• Good to hear people like Mary Chamberlain and others.
• Good to get quality advice for people at trade stands.
• Have followed up a number of things eg better use of data projectors
 
ICT Practicums  
• Practicums provide necessary skills to enhance school wide teaching and learning especially within the literacy area.  During the session participants were introduced to web 2.0 and Wikispaces then explored model examples of effective educational based wikis.  After choosing the educational purpose of their wikis participants then planned and set up a wiki for their own schools.  Issues relating to school policies/cybersafety were discussed then resources and models shared.  In addition, class based wikis were planned and created that lead teachers could use as a model for colleagues.  Participants were shown a range of tools that would enhance their wikis including using tables, inserting links, inserting files, inserting images, using educational widgets and inserting slideshows.  Connections to the Digital Literacy -using still images practicum were made with participants been shown how to embed digital texts into a wiki.  They were also directed to support material on the cluster wiki. At the end of the session participants shared their wikis and added links to them, to a links page on the cluster wiki then reflected on future uses.

Cluster Launch
• provided a clear overview of ICT journey and a chance to meet other schools. Cluster on-line wiki contains relevant ICT PD resources and is consistently updated.

Action Research
• All staff have written Action Research ready to be applied in Term 2.

ICT Audit
• Completed. Report presented at March BOT Meeting. Gave practical ideas and a strategic direction for building ICT infrastructure.

Lead Teacher Practicum –
• setting up cluster and school wiki
• Monday 22nd February  The aim of this session was for participants to be introduced to wiki and Web 2.0 then set up a school wiki.

Cluster Wiki
• This has been established as a place for schools to share links to their School Wikis as a resource bank of support material and general cluster administration.

Action Research Planning
• The action research model was introduced to the cluster lead teachers.  The model was explained and participants were taken through a key note detailing the theories supporting the plan with connections clearly made to the goal of raising teachers pedagogical practices.  Lead teachers were given material to support their colleagues when completing the action research plan in schools.

Report on progress with Action Research implementation
Greendale
• Action Research has been shared by ICT Lead teacher at staff meeting
• All staff agreed that given that one of our 2010 school goals was about numeracy, that each class/teacher  would investigate the difference that Mathletics made
• Action Research will be included in staff appraisals
• We have had a 33% staff turnover since start of year and new staff  need reorientation.
