Located on the West Coast of Northland, Dargaville Intermediate School has a decile rating of 3.
The current roll of the school is 167. Classes are composite year 7 and 8.
Monday to Thursday sudents spend the first two blocks each day in their home rooms at which time they cover Literacy, Numeracy, Te Reo Maori, health topics and fitness. For the remainder of the day students are in their Specialty groups. Specialty groups operate on a three week rotation and cover the following subjects: Art, Social Sciences, Performing Arts, Science, ICT, Environmental Studies, Sport and Health, Electronics, Textiles, Media Studies Applied, Financial literacy and Life Skills.
On Fridays students are in their homerooms for the whole day.
