Welcome to Ebbett Park School.

Ebbett Park Primary School was opened in 1960 and is situated on the south-western boundary of the City of Hastings. It is a contributing school catering for children from Years 1 to 6, with a decile rating of 1b. It has a roll of 150 children with a good ethnic mix of European, Maori and Pacific Island students all who contribute to the overall culture of the school.
The school draws its clients from a range of socio and economic groups. They are a very supportive community and involve themselves in many aspects of school life. The roll is reasonably static enabling the class sizes to be relatively small in number with all classes being under 30 in the senior school and in the junior school under 25.

The school presents a safe attractive environment with excellent facilities and 2002 saw the construction of a Multi-Purpose/Hall Facility which enhanced the delivery of the curriculum even further. In the near future the present classrooms will be modernised and a new Library is planned along with further enhancement of the environment.

What ERO had to say:

The governance and leadership of the school are effective. The board chair provides sound, knowledgeable guidance and advice to trustees with a strong focus on improving outcomes for students. The principal is long serving knows the community well. He keeps the board well informed about students’ engagement, progress and achievement. Trustees and senior managers are committed to the school’s vision and values.

Community partnership, based on positive and supportive relationship with families/whānau, helps build a solid foundation for student learning.

The overall tone is welcoming, friendly and highly conducive to student learning and development. Board, staff and students show pride in their school. This is particularly demonstrated in the way the grounds and buildings are maintained and presented, and in the way students interact with each other and their teachers.

Students are happily engaged in their learning and play. Positive attitudes and behaviours are effectively fostered through the shared values of excellence, pride and spirit. Students can talk about school expectations and how these relate to their daily participation in school life.

We Love Ebbett Park School!!!!

The things I love about Ebbett Park School are the awesome teachers and school leaders. The School Leaders are responsible and they are great role models for our younger students. The teachers are not just strict, they are fun and give you cool tasks to do. This year Mr Dufty and Mr Stevenson took the School Leaders to the National Young Leaders Day in Palmerston North. That was a really fun day.

Ezra (Year 6)

The thing I love about Ebbett Park School is that I started off in Room 2 and have made it through to Room 7 as a senior. I have enjoyed my time at Ebbett Park School. Ebbett Park School gives you great opportunities and great options and they know what you need to learn and make it fun. This year it is my last year and I am really sad to leave. I am really going to miss it!

Te Rauhina (Year 6)

The things I really love about Ebbett Park is that the teachers are really nice, caring and funny. The children and teachers are cool and I love that the school is always tidy.

Latoya (Year 5)

The thing I really love about EPS is learning about different countries and my family. We show excellence, pride and spirit. We get wonderful Duffy books and have Discovery Learning time. It really cool to meet other people and make friends. It’s a fantastic school and we have lovely teachers.

Trulee- Crystal (Year 4)

The things I really love about Ebbett Park are how we learn and about different countries and people. We can learn new waiata in Kapa Haka and play cool sports. We have School Leaders to help us around the school. They show Excellence, Pride and Spirit. When new people come we show them around and welcome them at assembly. We have cool teachers.

Cleveland (Year 4)

Ebbett Park School is as cool as riding my scooter fast. At our school we are allowed to ride our scooters around the front. We have two play grounds so there’s enough room for the whole school to play on. Ebbett Park School’s teachers are cool because they are funny and they let us have time on the computers. I come to Ebbett Park School so I can learn, have fun and make new friends.

Alyiah (Year 3)

Ebbett Park School is as cool as playing ball tag with my friends in the fort. My teacher lets me paint and draw pictures to match my stories that I write with my learning buddy. I like that we have got to plant vegetables in the school garden.

Blair (Year 3)

What I really like about Ebbett Park School is listening to the teacher. I can do the right thing at the right time.

Paia (Year 2)

Ebbett Park School is the best because we are small and small is cool! The teachers are beautiful and our uniform is red and blue. We love Discovery Learning when we choose to make things and work stuff out by ourselves.
