Balclutha Kindergarten is one hour south of Dunedin; it is situated in central Balclutha, on the flat in Lanark Street which is the 2nd left turn off the famous Balclutha Bridge. The kindergarten serves people from all over South Otago (a rural setting) but mainly those from North Balclutha, Stirling, Kaitangata and people living on the flat area of Balclutha. As a result the kindergarten feeds into a number of schools throughout the area.
We have good liaisons with all local schools and frequently visit our neighbouring school, Balclutha Primary. The kindergarten is very accessible to shops, supermarket, fire station, etc making visits by children a frequent event.
Balclutha Kindergarten prides itself on is big, bright friendly building and atmosphere. It has a hard working volunteer committee and community who are dedicated to making it a site of excellence. It is well resourced with an engaging learning environment. Our outdoor area is large with a variety of stimulating activities to enhance the learning of our children.
We offer the traditional morning and afternoon sessions that are synonymous with the Kindergartens that we all grew up with alongside a school day option which runs for 6 ¾ hours Tuesday to Thursday. We were the first Kindergarten established in the South Otago area and we celebrated our 50th Anniversary in 2005.
